“Just First Names Please: The Corporate Party That Dropped Titles and Lit Up the Room”

I often stop by, wondering—how much do we really crave identity? How much of material world are we really existing?

When we started the journey with MyCelebrations.me, I never expected to witness a moment that would change the way I see people, events, and connection forever.

That moment came during a corporate party where everything we thought mattered—the titles, the hierarchy, the formalities—was gently stripped away. What remained was something raw, authentic, and deeply human. It was just another event on the calendar — a corporate evening at the beautiful Lapita Hotel. But somehow, something shifted that night.

We proposed a small twist to the client.
No Sir. No Madam. No job titles. No last names,
No “Head of,” no “Executive,” not even “Intern.”

Just first names.
Just people.

The idea was met with amused smiles at first — some unsure, some curious. But as the evening unfolded, we saw something rare: a room full of individuals letting go of labels, masks, and hierarchies.

And suddenly, the energy changed.

The ballroom was alive with laughter.
A senior manager and a fresh recruit were on the dance floor doing the same steps, no awkward pauses.
Someone called their boss by their first name — and they both laughed like old friends.
The DJ wasn’t just playing music. He was unlocking joy.

What struck me most wasn’t just the party—it was what happened between the moments.
The comfort in people’s eyes when they were no longer addressed by a title.
The gentle unraveling of stress from weeks of deadlines.
And the unspoken message: “You matter, just as you are.”

At one point, I just stood back and watched.

It reminded me why I started this company — MyCelebrations.me was never just about organizing events. It was about curating moments that cut through noise, hierarchy, and routine... and made people feel seen.

This night wasn’t just a success for the client.
It was a reminder for me, too.
That when we drop the roles and the walls — even just for one evening — we often find what we were looking for all along:
Connection. Recognition. And a little piece of our forgotten humanity.

That’s a moment that truly mattered.
